JSON Toolkit

Use the existing JSON Formatter URL as a complete local JSON Toolkit. Beautify, minify and validate JSON, locate syntax errors, search an expandable tree, download results, convert to YAML, or convert flat records to CSV.

🔒 Your files and data never leave your device

Toolkit actions

Paste JSON to format, validate, inspect or convert it locally.

Simple workflow

How to use JSON Toolkit

  1. 1Paste JSON and choose format, minify, validate, tree view, YAML or CSV.
  2. 2For tree view, search keys or values and expand or collapse nodes.
  3. 3Review the result, then copy it or download the appropriate file.

Frequently asked questions

Where is a JSON syntax error shown?

The toolkit reports the browser parser's error and adds line and column information when the runtime provides a character offset.

Which JSON can be converted to CSV?

CSV conversion accepts one flat object or an array of flat objects containing scalar values. Nested objects and arrays are rejected with a clear message so data is not silently discarded.

Does minifying JSON change its values?

No. The JSON is parsed and serialized without indentation. Insignificant whitespace is removed, while strings, numbers, booleans, nulls, arrays and object data are preserved.

Is pasted JSON sent to a server?

No. Parsing, tree search, conversion, copying and downloads run locally in your browser.

Practical guide

Inspect and convert JSON without sending it anywhere

The JSON Toolkit parses pasted data with the browser's built-in JSON parser. You can beautify it for reading, minify it for transport, validate its syntax, inspect an expandable tree, or search keys and values. Invalid input stays unchanged and shows the parser's line and column when the runtime provides an offset.

JSON to YAML preserves objects, arrays and scalar values in a readable YAML representation. JSON to CSV is intentionally narrower: it accepts a flat object or an array of flat objects and rejects nested structures instead of silently losing data.

Worked example

Format a compact API response

Start with
Paste {"name":"UtilSprout","private":true} into JSON input.
Choose
Choose 2 spaces and select Format / Beautify.
You get
The result places each property on its own indented line. Tree view then lets you expand the object and search for private.

Tips for a useful result

  • Common errors include missing commas, unquoted property names, trailing commas and mismatched braces or brackets.
  • Minification removes insignificant whitespace but does not change JSON values. Keep a formatted copy for review when a compact copy is needed for transport.
  • YAML is indentation-based and can be easier to edit by hand; JSON has stricter syntax and is widely used for APIs. Review converted output when another system has its own YAML rules.

Privacy and conversion limits

Parsing, searching and conversion run in this tab. Pasted JSON is not uploaded or recorded in analytics. CSV conversion stops with an explanation when nested objects or arrays cannot be represented safely as a simple table, or when a string could be interpreted as a spreadsheet formula.
