Counting, matching and Unicode details

Plain text can be counted or compared in several technically valid ways. UtilSprout states the rule used by each tool so a result can be matched to a publishing limit, programming API or cleanup task instead of treating every visible symbol as the same kind of character.

A character can mean several things

A user-perceived symbol, a Unicode code point, a UTF-16 code unit and an encoded byte are different measurements. Character Counter reports Unicode code points and separately reports whitespace and other categories. Combined accents and emoji can therefore produce counts that differ from an editor, database or social platform using grapheme clusters or storage units.

Case conversion is mechanical

Uppercase and lowercase follow browser Unicode casing behavior, while title and sentence modes apply documented boundary rules. They cannot infer every proper noun, acronym or language-specific publishing convention. Identifier cases split and join words for common code styles, but the result still needs review for project naming rules.

Exact matching preserves meaningful differences

Duplicate-line cleanup keeps the first matching line in its original order. Case handling and empty-line removal are explicit options; leading spaces, trailing spaces and Unicode normalization remain significant unless a tool says otherwise. Text Compare likewise reports differences rather than silently rewriting the source.

Text remains in the current tab

Counting, case changes, line cleanup and comparisons run locally. The input is not uploaded, stored in localStorage or sent to analytics. Clear the tool when finished on a shared computer, and keep a separate copy before applying bulk cleanup to important source material.
