Scientific Calculator

Calculate bounded scientific expressions with powers, roots, logarithms, factorials and DEG or RAD trigonometry using a purpose-built parser that never executes JavaScript.

🔒 Your files and data never leave your device

Use *, / and ^ for multiply, divide and powers. Factorial is limited to 170.

Percentage divides the preceding value by 100. History stays only in this page session and is never stored.

Simple workflow

How to use Scientific Calculator

  1. 1Enter a supported mathematical expression or use the keypad.
  2. 2Choose DEG or RAD before using trigonometric functions.
  3. 3Calculate, copy the result, or reuse an item from session-only history.

Frequently asked questions

Does the calculator run JavaScript expressions?

No. A small bounded mathematical parser accepts only documented numbers, operators, constants and functions. eval and Function are not used.

What is the difference between DEG and RAD?

DEG interprets trigonometric angles in degrees. RAD interprets them in radians. Inverse-trigonometric output follows the selected mode too.

How are invalid domains handled?

Division by zero, square roots of negative values, invalid logarithms and out-of-range inverse trigonometry return a clear error rather than NaN or Infinity.

Is calculation history saved?

No. The latest session history stays only in component memory and disappears when the page closes or you clear it.

Practical guide

Evaluate bounded scientific expressions without executing code

Enter a mathematical expression using parentheses, powers and supported functions. The parser applies power before multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction; powers associate from right to left. Unsupported tokens are rejected rather than passed to JavaScript.

DEG interprets trigonometric inputs and inverse-trigonometric outputs as degrees. RAD uses radians. log means base 10, ln means the natural logarithm, and factorial accepts nonnegative integers through 170.

Worked example

Respect operator precedence

Start with
2 + 3 × 4
Choose
Choose DEG or RAD; this expression does not use angles.
You get
Multiplication is evaluated first, so the result is 14.

Tips for a useful result

  • Use parentheses when the intended grouping could be unclear.
  • Switch angle mode before calculating trigonometric functions.
  • A domain error is shown instead of treating NaN or Infinity as a valid result.

Supported scope and privacy

The tool supports decimal values, constants π and e, powers, roots, reciprocal, factorial, logarithms, exponentiation and the listed trigonometric functions. It does not provide symbolic algebra, complex numbers or arbitrary program execution.

Calculation history remains only in component memory until it is cleared or the page closes. Expressions and results are not written to URLs, storage or analytics.
