JPG to PNG

Convert a JPG or JPEG to PNG when a document, editor or upload field requires that format. The conversion keeps the decoded image dimensions and runs locally in your browser. Preview the new PNG and check its size before downloading.

๐Ÿ”’ Your files and data never leave your device
Add up to 20 JPG or JPEG images, 25 MB and 40 megapixels each, with a 100 MB combined limit.

Simple workflow

How to use JPG to PNG

  1. 1Choose or drop one or more JPG or JPEG images. You can add more or remove an item before converting.
  2. 2Select Convert to PNG. The browser keeps each decoded image's dimensions and validates the PNG output.
  3. 3Compare each JPG and PNG size, download files individually, or use Download all for two or more results.

Frequently asked questions

Does converting JPG to PNG improve image quality?

PNG saves the decoded image with lossless encoding, but it cannot recover detail already lost in the JPG. Existing blur or compression marks remain. The conversion changes the format rather than restoring the photo.

Will the PNG have a transparent background?

No. Although PNG supports transparency, the converter does not remove backgrounds or select subjects. The opaque background from the JPG remains in the PNG. Use an image editor if you need to remove it.

Why is the PNG larger than the original JPG?

JPG can represent photographs compactly using lossy compression. PNG stores the decoded pixels losslessly, which can require more space. Check Output size and Size change; converting to PNG is not a file-size reduction method.

Can I change the dimensions while converting to PNG?

This converter keeps the source pixel width and height and offers no resize controls. To change dimensions, use Image Resizer and select PNG as the output Format.

Can I convert several JPG files together?

Yes. Add up to 20 JPG or JPEG images, convert the batch, then download PNG files individually or together as a ZIP. Each image can be up to 25 MB and 40 megapixels, with a 100 MB combined input limit.

Does the PNG keep JPEG metadata?

The converter keeps the browser-rendered image pixels and decoded dimensions. Original JPEG metadata such as EXIF, ICC profiles or camera details may not be carried into the new PNG.

Practical guide

Convert a JPG batch without changing dimensions

Convert one or several JPG or JPEG images to PNG in the same batch. Each successful result keeps the browser-decoded pixel dimensions. Download files separately, or use Download all when at least two PNG results are ready. A rejected or failed file does not remove valid batch items.

PNG uses lossless output encoding, but converting a JPEG cannot recover detail already discarded by JPEG compression. It does not remove a background or create transparency. A photographic PNG is often larger than its JPG source, so every result reports whether the output is smaller, larger or the same size.

The browser decodes the JPEG before the image worker draws those rendered pixels into the PNG. The displayed and output dimensions therefore follow the browser-decoded orientation. Conversion preserves the rendered image pixels, but original JPEG metadata may not be carried into the PNG.

Worked example

Prepare two images for a PNG-only workflow

Start with
profile.jpg is 600 ร— 800 pixels and banner.jpeg is 1200 ร— 400 pixels.
Choose
Add both JPG files and select Convert 2 images to PNG; no quality or background setting is needed.
You get
profile.png remains 600 ร— 800 and banner.png remains 1200 ร— 400. Compare each PNG size, then download the files separately or together as a ZIP.

Tips for a useful result

  • If the destination also specifies dimensions, resize the image separately with PNG selected as the output format.
  • Keep the source JPG so you can compare the two files and use whichever suits the destination.
  • Duplicate source basenames receive numbered PNG filenames so ZIP entries do not overwrite one another.
