Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between 1-3 and 1,2,3?
Entering 1-3 creates one PDF containing pages 1, 2 and 3. Entering 1,2,3 creates three single-page PDFs and downloads them together in a ZIP. A comma starts a new output document.
Can I put non-adjacent pages into one PDF?
Each item here can be one page or one continuous range. To make a single PDF from non-adjacent pages, extract them as separate outputs, open the ZIP if needed, and use Merge PDF to combine those files in the desired order.
Why does my page selection show an error?
Page numbers start at 1 and must exist in the selected PDF. Ranges must run forwards, and a page cannot appear twice anywhere in the selection: 1-3,3-5 is rejected because page 3 overlaps. Remove repeated pages, empty items between commas or an extra trailing comma.
Does splitting remove pages from my original file?
No. The tool reads the selected PDF locally and creates new files containing only the requested pages. Your original file is not edited. Download the result to keep the extracted pages.

Choose the pages that belong in each file
Split PDF can extract a chapter, separate an appendix or save a single page. Enter page positions starting at 1. A hyphen joins consecutive pages into one output, while a comma starts another output: 2-4 makes one three-page PDF, but 2,3,4 makes three one-page PDFs.
Pages outside your selection are omitted from the new files. One selected item downloads directly as a PDF; two or more items download together in a ZIP archive. The source file stays on your device, so you can use it again to extract another selection.
Worked example
Separate two sections and leave out a divider

- handbook-split.zip contains pages-1-3.pdf with 3 pages and pages-5-8.pdf with 4 pages. Page 4 is omitted.
Tips for a useful result
- Use the page's position in the PDF, which may differ from the page number printed on the document.
- Avoid overlapping ranges such as 1-3,3-5; a page can appear only once in a selection.
- To keep a continuous section together, enter one range such as 5-8 instead of listing its pages separately.
